Watch Maltese activist makes 38km swim around Gozo

first_imgA swimmer has managed to circumnavigate the entire 38 kilometre coastline of Gozo in just over 10 hours, to raise awareness about keeping the sea clean. The swimmer, Neil Agius started his swim at 3.15AM this morning.Agius explained that the main goal of the challenge was to raise awareness among the Maltese and Gozitan people about the cleanliness of the sea and the responsible use and disposal of plastic.Agius didn’t do the challenge alone, having a team of people supporting him along the way. Twain Cutajar and Gordon Bugeja took responsibility for driving the support vessel while Peter Grech provided motivational support during the more difficult parts of the swim. Lara Vella ensured Agius ate and drank during the challenge.On Facebook, yesterday evening, Agius encouraged all those who want a clean and better environment, to take on the personal challenge and support the Wave of Change movement, to collect three plastic items discarded at sea or on land and encourage three peers to do the same.Maltese man swims 70km in less than 22 hoursThis is not the first time Agius has carried out such a challenge.
