Dr. Jeffrey BlaizeThe assistant chief education officer in the Ministry of Education has called on media workers to partner with the ministry in providing information to the general public.Dr. Jeffrey Blaize noted that while the media is often criticized for being sensational and biased in their coverage, they must also be commended for the service they provide.“I want to particularly express gratitude for your services…We rely on the media in good ways to celebrate with us, to inform the public on the many initiatives that we have been embarking on in the Ministry. We want the media to partner with us, yes, in an objective way”.He recognized the media as an important medium of informing the public on the initiatives of the ministry.“You play an instrumental role in disseminating information in that regard. We want you to continue supporting not only the work of the ministry, but in nation building because you will well appreciate the fact that what you do is not only limited to disseminating information about education initiatives, but you are contributing to nation development in your own way”.Dr. Blaize also complimented the media for their contribution towards education.“We want to thank you for that and continue supporting the work of the ministry; we do appreciate your contribution to education”.Dr. Blaize who made these remarks at the launching of the Excellence in Education Awards ceremony carded for October 4th, 2012, advised that media workers should assist the ministry in celebrating the work of “our excellent educators”.Dominica Vibes News
