Ursula Helen Lefkowitz, 95, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away, Monday, March 16, 2020 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, Texas.Ursula was born December 6, 1924 in Germany to Fred and Jenny Roos.She was a resident of Port Arthur for 80 years and a member of Temple Emanuel in Beaumont. Ursula was retired after owning Irving’s Jewelry for many years.She was the first female member of the North Port Arthur Rotary Club and active for many years in the Port Arthur Little Theatre.A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.last_img read more

Currency fluctuations help boost profits at Linklaters

first_imgPre-tax profits at magic circle firm Linklaters increased by 8.6% last year, largely due to sterling’s fall against the euro and the dollar, according to results released today. For the year ending 30 April 2017, the firm reports a pre-tax profit at £664.4m, up 8.6% on the £611.9m on the previous year. Overall revenue was rose 10% to £1.4bn. However in constant currency terms, revenue rose by 1.7% while profit was flat on the previous year, the firm said.There was also a hefty pay-rise for equity partners who collected £1.51m, a 7.8% increase.Gideon Moore, firmwide managing partner, said: ‘Our performance has been driven by the efforts of our people, our deep client relationships and our sector focus.’He added: ’Beyond our work for clients, we have continued to be involved in a range of inspiring pro-bono and community projects including a successful death penalty appeal in Texas and a landmark whistleblower case in the UK.’ read more
