Hekari set to make comeback

first_imgThe Hekari United Football Club is preparing to enter the National Soccer League scene after two years of being left out in the cold. They were known as the most disciplined and driven club in PNG football. Unfortunately, the Hekari United Football Club, and especially its talented players, suffered during the two years of impasse with the PNG Football Association.Following the eventual union of the two football factions, Hekari, in its bid to outclass rivals, has recalled its head coach, Jerry Allen, who flew in from the Solomon Islands today.Accompanying Allen was his brother Sam, who will be in charge of the Hekari Football Academy.Hekari manager Vonnie Kapi Natto said it was a great relief to return to the football arena.“I always regarded our removal last two years as ‘cheating’ our success,” she stated. “And I’m thankful football came back together to be one and honestly, I’m the manager since day one of this club and I have a different drive, especially when we were removed from PNG football.“With Hekari’s success, to me it was an insult after we worked so hard and they removed us on something I felt, wasn’t fair.“But anyway football is like that and I’m so thankful football came together.”With the brothers’ passion and drive in the Solomon Islands, Kapi Natto has confidence in their abilities in building PNG players.“It will be a great blessing for PNG in having both of them here, the knowledge and understanding they have for football.”(Hekari manager Vonnie Kapi Natto)last_img read more
